Automotive News reported that the 2014 Impala will be built on older versions of GM's Epsilon platform, intended for use under the new banner of Cadillac XTS. The new, big Impala will offer more standard equipment than the smaller Malibu, and two cars will be positioned similar to how the Taurus and Fusion are in the Ford lineup.
In an effort to keep fresh until repairs are Impala, GM has a car equipped with a V6 direct-injected 3.6-liter found elsewhere in the portfolios that car makers, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The first sales of the Impala in 2014 are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2013
